In 2017 the Cadbury Hill Management Group had a halo of trees ring barked around the veteran oak in an attempt to give more light to this venerable tree. However a summer storm later in the year felled the oak, leaving a decaying stump. Sadly once ringed barked trees die away so over the course of this winter these trees will be felled. Whilst this will do nothing for the oak, it's too far gone, it will create a more open glade for woodland plants to flourish. The stump and fallen trunk have become a habitat for all types of insect and invertebrates thus improving the biodiversity of the woodland.

The Parish Council currently has vacancies for Parish Councillors. The Parish Council plays a vital role in the Parish of Congresbury, working towards keeping the Parish an attractive place to live and influencing the future of the area. The Parish Council holds meetings in the Old School Rooms once a month, to which members of the public are invited. Meetings usually last up to 2 hours, depending on the agenda. In addition to regular meetings, councillors are occasionally required to attend other meetings or events representing the Council. Being a parish councilor will not take up too much of your time  and is something that can give you a sense of achievement. For more information please contact the Chair of the Parish Council, Cllr Diana Hassan on 01934 876454 or e mail the clerk at
