Welcome to Congresbury Parish Council

The New Village Hall/Community Centre has provided the following with regard to the recent survey;

'The project team have been researching a whole range of fundraising options, and one of which was the possibility of the Parish Council taking out a Public Works loan. As you are probably aware this would have required an increase in household’s council tax, villagers were asked to respond to a simple survey. The Council and project have reviewed the 418 responses, which showed 266 respondents did not support the council taking out a loan with 152 saying they did.

The survey generated a lot of comment but only 28% of households in the village responded. Obviously this is disappointing and the Development Committee have discussed and confirmed their commitment to move the project forward. We have come so far and many villagers, village organisations and businesses have put a lot of time and effort in support of the project. We can now focus on other options.'

The consultation period has now been completed for the Neighbourhood Development Plan.  The next stage is a report to the North Somerset Council Executive Committee. The report will be presented on 19th March 2019 and the recommendations are as follows;
'It is resolved that the Congresbury Neighbourhood Development Plan meets the criteria necessary under Schedule 4B of the 1990 Town and Country Planning Act (as amended) and can proceed to examination.   That North Somerset Council’s comments on the submitted Congresbury Neighbourhood Plan as set out in Appendix 1 are submitted to the Neighbourhood Plan examiner, along with comments received through the Regulation 16 consultation (a schedule of which are set out in Appendix 2).' The full report can be accessed here including all submitted comments.

The Plan will then be sent to the examiner which means the plan is a step closer to referendum. Many thanks to those who submitted comments.

The Parish Council currently has vacancies for Parish Councillors. The Parish Council plays a vital role in the Parish of Congresbury, working towards keeping the Parish an attractive place to live and influencing the future of the area. The Parish Council holds meetings in the Old School Rooms once a month, to which members of the public are invited. Meetings usually last up to 2 hours, depending on the agenda. In addition to regular meetings, councillors are occasionally required to attend other meetings or events representing the Council.
