Welcome to Congresbury Parish Council
LOCAL PLAN 2038
North Somerset Council (NSC) produce a local plan that outlines how our region should grow. The current plan runs until 2026 and NSC has started wor4k on a new plan that will run until 2038. NSC would like your views on shaping where houses and growth occurs and is running the North Somerset Local Plan 2038: Choices for the Future Consultation from 2 November to 14 December 2020. Information is available here.
The government has identified a need for a large amount of housing in North Somerset, so it isn't going to be easy. Currently North Somerset Council is planning on an extra 15,000 homes but the government has outlined that this could be higher and more like closer to 20,000. However, you may have heard in the news about a new algorithm that could mean the region needs 25,000 new homes over the period. This will be a big challenge.
John Penrose MP has already made a statement that he wants a new block of green belt to protect villages like Congresbury, Churchill, Langford and Sandford. Find out more here.
Congresbury Parish Council is currently forming its views on the consultation and will publish our reply shortly.
Please take part to help shape how Congresbury and North Somerset will develop.
PINEAPPLE FARM - PROPOSED HOUSING DEVELOPMENT
M7 Planning Limited and Stonewater Housing Association have teamed up to progress a planning application for land at Pineapple Farm for up to 90 dwellings (including 30% affordable housing), public open space and the retention of an ecological buffer along the boundary of the site.
The land is situated behind Park Road and the proposal is to access the site from Mulberry Road. The developer has asked that the Parish Council directs residents to their website which is available here where residents can view the plans and provide feedback. The Parish Council was made aware of the proposal at the public participation section of the Full Council meeting on October 12th 2020. The location is not within Congresbury Neighbourhood Development Plan and the site had a planning application rejected in the late 90's.
The Parish Council will consider the application when it is submitted to North Somerset Council. Residents can complete the developers consultation questionnaire, however it is not part of the formal application process to North Somerset Council.
Paper copies of the plans and feedback forms are available from the Community Library and the Parish Office.
