Clean Up Day 2016
On Saturday 4th June a number of Congresbury Residents met at Broad Street to spring clean the area around the cross and the Geoffrey Peacock memorial Garden. They weeded, pruned, swept and planted approximately 800 plants in the memorial Garden and in planters at the top of broad Street, outside the Old School Rooms and around the library. Members of YCCART cleared moss, plants and debris from the Cross.
Many thanks to Morgan's Store who kindly supplied the workers with water during the morning.
Over the coming week members of Congresbury Scouts and Guides will be planting beds in the precinct, outside Ticknells, around the Church and Mill Lane. Congresbury Youth Partnership are brightening up the area outside the Youth Club whilst St Andrews School, the Pre School and the Children's Centre are planning donated bedding plants on their sites.
On behalf of Congresbury Parish Council I would like to thank all the volunteers who helped plant the 2,000 free plants donated by North Somerset Council and Glendale Services. Many thanks also to Glendale Services who provided the Community Clear Up Kit which contained tools and equipment for us to carry out the work. Also the businesses who have purchased hanging baskets placed in Broad Street, High Street and the Old School Rooms and library. This is all part of 'Blooming Congresbury' project which the Parish Council has initiated to enhance our village.
