Congresbury Parish Council – Clerk and responsible financial officer vacancy

A new year and for you it could be a new start in an exciting new job. Congresbury Parish Council is seeking a Clerk who will be at the centre of a great community, implementing our goals and projects to help our village prosper.

 As the clerk and responsible financial officer, you will be responsible for ensuring that council business is run effectively, supporting councillors and administering financial matters. The job is offered on a full-time basis (37 hours) and as a flexible employer part time hours are available.

Our role is open to both qualified and unqualified clerks, ideally with previous experience working in local government or as a clerk. However, if you have other relevant experience, with transferable skills such as office manager, we will be pleased to hear from you. If you don’t have the necessary qualifications, the Parish Council will support you in gaining your qualified status as soon as possible. Expected qualifications would be Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA).

You will be expected to attend council meetings that tend to occur on Monday evenings. While you will formally be based in our parish office, we offer a flexible working approach and ability to work at home. You will need to demonstrate the following:

• IT skills

Congresbury is a large vibrant village, of around 1,500 houses, a great mix of businesses, range of local shops with a vibrant café and pub scene. The village is located around 12 miles south of Bristol and 5 miles east of Weston-Super-Mare.
